About this walk

Walk the Whithorn Way (pilrimage walk) from Glasgow to Whithorn via Prestwick Holiday Park, the original footpath crosses over our Park and takes you through a historical journey where you can explore the stunning scenery of woodland, beaches, hills and an amazing array of flora and fauna. St Ninian was the first Bishop of Galloway who studied in Rome, came to Scotland and converted Celts and Picts to Christianity. He erected a small stone church Candida Casa (White house) Scotland's first Christian building and was buried here in a stone coffin near the alter. Pilgrims flocked to his relics and shrine, including the noteable King James IV who was gifted the Royal Coat of Arms of Scotland sculpture over the Pend in Whithorn. Note: You can stay at St Andrew's House Prestwick www.standrewshouseprestwick.com or phone 01292 479261 whilst walking this route as we are directly on the walk.
