Weymouth To Portland Rodwell Trail

This walk is suitable for all, dogs must be on leads on the Rodwell Trial pave area as this is a shared path with pedestrians and cyclist.

You can Park at The Car park at Portland Castle and walk to Weymouth along the coastal path, please keep dogs on leads on paved areas, bins are provided along this route. Look out for our dog friendly stickers for places to stop for refreshments, places to visit. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the the coast, watch the wildlife and migrating birds. Keep to the grassed path along the road, be aware there is traffic along the causeway, please have good recall to avoid dogs coming into contact with cars. If joining the path from Weymouth please park in the public car parks, using the underpass to join the Trail. Look out for the station markers as this was once a Railway track serving the Quarries bringing Portland Stone to to trains and to be transported around the world.

Along this trail you will find Sandsfoot Castle some where to stop and take a look at this historical Monument, with an opportunity to take photos, enjoy the gardens and paddle in the water at the nearby beach. Please place all litter in the bins thank you. You will find entrances and exits along the route remain aware people may suddenly join the path. Once you arrive in Weymouth or Portland continue you walks around either destinations, you will find over 200 dogfriendly.social stickers which shows you where dogs and well behaved owners are welcome inside.
