Mill Loch, Lochmaben

The circuit around the lochs near Lochmaben offers mostly good paths and minor roads, although the final section may be very muddy. You will be treated to stunning views of the attractive Castle Loch, as well as the smaller Kirk and Mill Lochs. The Mill Loch, which is the deepest of the three main lochs with a depth of over 70 meters, supplied a mill downstream where the old gasworks were located on Mill Road. Fishing and camping are free on Mill Loch, while fields in the area may contain cattle and other farm wildlife so care should be taken to keep to the edge of the fields and keep gates closed. Please be aware that the trail path can sometimes be blocked by swans.
