About this walk

This managed, ancient, Heath is popular with dog walkers from nearby villages. There are several areas, all separately fenced off with plenty of gates allowing access. Sheep are to be found grazing in the wet meadow and there is a herd of around 22 Highland Cattle that are moved from one area to another on a regular basis. Maps, one in the car park and another in the main heathland area are updated to show where the cattle are currently grazing - these areas can be easily avoided once you know the layout of the common if you are reluctant to meet up with them.

Good car parking (=free!) routes around the parkland are across the fairly busy road. There are two fairly short routes and two around a mile long. All are well signposted on the outward leg and the car park signed as you approach completion. Will certainly come back for another walkies soon.

Lots of space, but you will bump into lots of dogs. They have gates around and lots of mud for happy pups.
