Castle Acre village as a whole is great to explore. We come here when on Humphreys holiday. Start at the old castle mount at one end of the village. There is parking down here. Walk around the castle site and surrounding field, read some history whilst there! Then walk through the village amongst the charming cottages on the lead. There's 2 routes, either keep following the main road past The Ostrich pub or cut through the church. In the churchyard, go through the little gate and up the bank the opposite side of the road. If you need a flat approach, stick to the road way. It's just a bit more of a walk. Dogs will enjoy the big expanse of field overlooking the old priory. It's a gorgeous sight. Dogs love to romp here. Do a big circuit around the field. Back in the village, stop at the dog friendly cafe for tea and snackies. A lovely half day for all shapes and sizes. Long and short loops, mostly flat. Toilets in the cafe. Bins in the village and church often has a dog bowl out.

Location details
Parking is small at the castle. But there's signs for parking. I've always parked in the centre of the village. But it can be busy in summer hols.
