A lovely forest walk with reasonably flat paths, a free car park and an the mound of an old castle. You can walk alongside the river Taw or swimm if you're the dog. The forest has some wonderfully old Douglas firs from the original Eggesford Estate. A lovely walk.

Great series of walks, mixture of terrain from gravel to forest floor. River nearby fast moving in high rain lots of up and down hills. Dogs love it -

Narrow road to woods full of pot holes. Very very busy car park difficult finding somewhere to park upwards of 30 or 40 cars in such a small area. Dogs not under control. Mountain bikers. Horse boxes. Would not visit again just tooooo busy.

Follow the road from Wembworthy towards the A 377 at a very sharp bend in the road turn left Heywoods forest car park about a mile or so down this road.
