Saunton Sands, Devon
8 years agoFrom Easter to October the north end of the beach (nearest the main car park, cafe and hotel) is closed to 'free-running' dogs. You will have to walk at least a mile down before you can let them off. And pay the car park charges for the extra time In these months, you can take a left turn about a mile and a half BEFORE Saunton onto a lane signposted Braunton Burrows. About a mile and a half down this there is a large FREE car parking area on the right. From there a wide track leads through the dunes to the south end of the beach. It is still over a mile to walk to the beach, but the dogs can run free. Be aware - south of the track to the beach is the Royal Marines training ground
