About this walk

Exton Estate has access points via public footpaths in the village of Exton or Empingham. There are lots of detailed walks available. I like to join the estate through the farm in Exton. You'll find tarmac paths with several options to explore. It's nice and flat. Amble down long paths with views over the fields. If your dog likes a long walk, try to make it all the way to Fort Henry. Its a fair way! There you'll go across grassy Meadows and there is water. Dogs on leads at the farm but once you are away, they can be off leads. It's fairly rural, but be aware that vehicles sometimes use the tracks to cut through. Lovely views and expanse of countryside. No facilities en route as this is a rural walk. You might see a few other dogs or walkers in the summer but mainly quiet.

Location details

Use the Rutland Council website. Its best to park around the main Exton village green, outside the Fox and Hounds pub. Dog friendly. Take the lane to the left away from the pub. Follow the road left again at the top, curve round past Pudding Bag Lane. Up the road to the Exton Farm.
