There are several options for short to medium walks, flat or hilly. My personal favourite (off-lead all the way) is to cross the road from the car park and head west up to the Silver Burn (Pictures) then turn back for a couple of hundred yards and take the short steep climb on your left up to the "high path" (my name for it). Then head east. This path takes you back along the side of the hill with distant views over the flat expanse of ground below to the Clackmannanshire and Kincardine bridges crossing the Forth River. (Pictures)The chimney of the soon to be demolished Kincardine power station can be seen. Half way along this path is a convenient bench seat erected to the memory of Ewan Polwart a young analytical chemist. The high path continues for perhaps another mile then descends and turns south. At the bottom, turn right to make your way back to the car park. Turn left and there is a more or less level walk between fenced fields to Tillicoultry about 1½ miles.

One of our favourite walks with Rosie. The high path is the best (if you're fit enough) Some really impressive trees up there. We go up from the Tillicoultry end of the woods, along the trail then downhill to the silver mine, carry on down to the car park and back to Tillicoultry. -

p.s. That's a powerful lens on your camera to get that close-up of the bridges. -

A report was posted 24/03/19 by local council warning of a dog fatality after poisoning occurred here. Dog's Mercury plant is abundant here and can cause illness but this seems to have been something Link →
