This is off of Fishhouse Lane, which you can get to by parking in low wood village, and walking across to the public footpath keeping the river on your right, through the field to a tarmac path, this path will lead you to the beginning of Roudsea Nature Reserve. Dog are to be kept on a lead throughout the reserve due to various bird nesting sites and vegetation that grows here. Sometimes a permit to visit is required, which can be obtained for free of charge by calling 01539531604 and this permit last for a year, however I have not been asked for a permit when visiting. Once inside the reserve there are a number of routes to follow, the best route is the green route which is clearly sign posted throughout. You must not stray from the designated path which is stoney and uneven, some parts have a risen wooden plank path for you to walk on which can be slippery in wet weather. Overall a wonderful walk with a lot of nature on route, we visited in the rain which was still quite spectacular.
Nature Reserve
This walk has been marked as a nature reserve. Dogs are usually welcome however restrictions may apply.
Each nature reserve has its own rules regarding dog walking, and some may not allow dogs. Kindly keep an eye out for the relevant signs within the reserve or visit the reserve's website before your visit for more information.
In most nature reserves, it's kindly requested to keep dogs on a lead at all times. Allowing dogs to roam off-lead can create issues or cause distress to livestock and wildlife.
If you see other visitors, please put your dog on lead whilst you are walking near them. Nature reserves are for the benefit of wildlife and frequently host educational visits.
Some nature reserves have dog poo bins, but if you can’t find one please take the waste home with you.
