About this walk

Tarn Hows is absolutely stunning, hard to believe it exists in England.

During our visit we were treated with clear blue sky, sunshine, snow capped mountains, orange autumn trees and stunning scenery.

The car park is accessed via a narrow, winding road (you would struggle with a Caravan or trailer) and i would imagine it could be tricky when busy during Summer months. However it is worth making your way there for a lovely walk around the lake.

It is managed by the National Trust, which means there is a charge for the car park but worth paying to ensure this beauty spot is maintained. There are toilets and a visitor centre on site too and a number of picnic tables.

To walk around the entire lake took us an hour via a proper path which takes you through woodlands and open scenery. There is livestock along the route so if your dog is spooked or likely to chase you may want to keep them on a lead in certain areas.

There are various paths leading from the main path incase you would like to discover a longer route.

Absolutely stunning place. Does take you down a very narrow winding road to get there so wouldn't recommend big or long vehicles. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the scenery was fantastic! Very well looked after place. :)
