About this walk

Don't let the name put you off! I've driven past this place so many times. It is a gem, beautiful. Part of the Sandringham Estate but on the opposite side of the road. Look for Wolferton village and drive towards it. We had a walk at the old Royal station first. The gorgeous heather was out when we went, covering the wide valley. There are several signposted walks around the heathland. It's a big area! Humphrey enjoyed the sandy paths and snuffles through the Rhododendron. Several small parking spots on the way into the village. Bins on site. Dogs on leads. Some steep steps and narrow paths on the peak. But benches to sit. Adders are found in the area and this type of ground. Shouldn't be a problem if you stick to the rules of dogs on leads. Donations optional. Shady wooded paths, boardwalks and open heath. A real mixture.

Beautiful scenery, peaceful, few hills, some flat ground, dogs live it here, occasionally meet the cows, never been a problem even with dogs, lovely tea room, just down the road

Location details

Off the main road between Castle Rising and Sandringham, look for the sign for the village of Wolferton. I drove into the village and out past the Royal Station. I found it by accident. There are maps and postcode online if needed. Also several small parking areas
