About this walk

Kelmarsh tunnel is now a disused railway in northamptonshire. It’s a beautiful walk to the tunnels. You don’t have to go through them, you can go over them :). It’s also a lovely walk from Kelmarsh to Market Harborougj. Dogs can be of lead as well, just watch out for cyclists!

Did this walk today, found it a bit difficult to find the parking, still not sure if I was parked in the right place or not. Great walk though nice mix of countryside and something different. Will definitely go again

Nice easy walk, gravel paved and flat. Benches all along the route with a couple of picnic benches nearer the tunnel. Keep an eye out for cyclists as it’s the national cycle way and there is livestock in the fields along the route (if you have a nosy dog). The tunnel is 480 meters long and pitch black so maybe bring a torch but our phone light was fine too. Two parking options, one that’s half a mile from the tunnel (what 3 words Link →. If you fancy a longer walk there’s a car park about 1.5 miles further down the path away from the tunnel at (what 3 words Link →

Location details

If you are travelling from Desborough it is best to go through Arthingworth. When driving down you will see a bridge, just before the bridge you will see a car park on your right. That’s where I would recommend parking as it is the start of the walk.
