About this walk

The Arboretum is stunning undulating parkland with trees of all sorts, benches located at regular intervals. There are paths you can follow but you can also wander quite freely on the grassy areas between trees. Dogs are allowed off leads in most areas though they do ask you to keep them under control and near you so as not to disturb other visitors. The cafe has simple tasty home cooked food and an outdoor sitting area with doggy water supplied. Dogs aren't allowed inside the visitor centre. We wandered happily for 2 hours with our puppy and were hardly aware of other visitors due to the landscape and trees. It's open February to November and adults are charged £5.50 for entrance. We thought it well worth it, a 9 1/2 out of ten and plan to go back with the kids and a picnic when it's warmer.

Nice walk and quiet (If Castle Howard is busy). Lovely trees and cafe is nice. Off lead in some areas aslong as your dog responds to recall. Have come across other dog walkers with disregard to your own dog on a lead and they have no control over there dog, regardless of size.
