Fforest Fawr woodland is near Castell Coch, one of the most picturesque castles in Wales. There are three walking trails from the Fforest Fawr car park including a sculpture trail for families, and another walking trail from the Castell Coch car park. Fforest Fawr is a mixed woodland and it has patches of bluebells, wood anemones and wild garlic in the spring. Fantastic fir dogs to explore all year round.

Fforest Fawr, Cardiff
2 years agoWe went midweek and it wasn’t too busy, which is great because we had a handful of opportunities to let both dogs off their leads. The forest creates a blanket from the sun too, which we also liked. Bring water with you as we couldn’t find the water outlet that was advertised on here, so dogs were a bit thirsty after their walkies.
10 months agoStarted the walk from Forest Fawr carpark and took the circular 'Sir Henry's Trail' towards Castell Coch. It was a gentle meandering path, except the last descent towards the castle in which it got quite steep. The ascent back was also semi-steep. There were a few streams dotted around off the trail if your dog gets thirsty.
