Kingmoor Sidings is the site of a once busy and grimy steam locomotive depot, now echoes to the sound of nature. Although hidden by the creeping blanket of vegetation, you can still get a glimpse of the old turntable and the floor of the old engine sheds. Kingmoor Motive Power Depot once drew schoolboys from all around Carlisle and beyond, to marvel at the spectacle of steam.

This walk has been marked as a nature reserve. Dogs are usually welcome however restrictions may apply.

In most nature reserves, it's kindly requested to keep dogs on a lead at all times. Allowing dogs to roam off-lead can create issues or cause distress to livestock and wildlife.
If you see other visitors, please put your dog on lead whilst you are walking near them. Nature reserves are for the benefit of wildlife and frequently host educational visits.
Some nature reserves have dog poo bins, but if you can’t find one please take the waste home with you.
