About this walk
The Monsal Trail follows the path of the former Midland Railway from Blackwell Mill cottages to Coombs Viaduct, about 1km past the former Bakewell station - a distance of about 20km. For the most part the trail follows the path of the River Wye, which means it offers some spectacular scenery. You can get onto the trail at several points.
It is a tarmacked wide path and goes through several tunnels. The route is shared by walkers, cyclists and horse riders so it is best to keep your dogs on lead.

I remember walking the Monsal Trail many years ago. If I remember rightly there is a lovely weir at some point. Thanks for adding the walk. -

Great walk. We walked it on a weekday in March and hardly saw a soul - if your dogs have good re call and you pick a similarly quiet day it is a good off lead one for sight hounds as there are sections without open fields ;-) Hello Rachel & keep up the good work with Scruples x
