Turn left at post office in Stoke canon and go over the train tracks. Free parking. Follow footpath through the fields, past the stream and over several gates and bridges. You can either divert and have a drink in the pub (check pub times) or continue on the footpath, past the old train stop and follow the signs for the footpath. You will continue through open fields, past another stream and through a farm. You will finally come to the road, turn right and follow it until you reach your car,

Excellent walk! Dogs loved every bit of it especially the river. Nice areas along the river for a picnic! -

We did this walk today, it was really great, there were cows in the last field. So went right around the field as worried they may be upset about our jack russell. It was nearly 3 miles, a comfortable flat walk, very pretty and lots of bird song. -

Very pretty, flat walk. There were no cows on our first visit but there is a separate path up the side of the field to keep you away from the cattle if they were in (excellent thinking by whoever installed it 👍🏼) -

Lovely walk. Flat and scenic. We did have to walk through one field of cows but they ignored us and our pup ignored them. Took approx 1.5hrs. -

Thank you for the recommendation. It's a lovely walk. I misread one of the comments and thought it was 1.5 miles, not hours! All was fine, but the poor puppy was a bit tired at the end. I suspect it can get very muddy/slippery in places in the late autumn and winter. The parking at the start of the footpath on Green Lane, i.e. just over the level crossing, isn't that big, but there is further parking before you cross the line plus plenty of on street. -
