About this walk
You could continue and walk further following the footpath up to Exeter Quay which has lots of nice bars and restaurants. Or from the car park you can walk downstream to the The Turf (another dog friendly pub) and follow the tow path out to Powderham Castle. There were no animals in the fields when we visited but there were cattle grids along the way so there may be at some point.

Good walk, dogs can come off lead too. Parking suggestion is also good -

Great walk, but watch out for the millions of people on bikes! -

We parked in the suggested place and walked downstream to Turf Locks. We stuck on the left hand side of the river which was much quieter but the path was very muddy (December). It did mean our boy was able to stay off lead most of the walk though. Once at Turf (closes for the winter) we came back on the other side of the river which was a much nicer path, but was quite busy in comparison. Beautiful views all around on both paths. We will definitely be doing it again.
