The main south beach has chip shops and all the things you would expect of a seaside walk, but Isnt really dog friendly. However, a little south down links road is a free car park and access to a really dog friendly stretch of beach. There's toilets and usually a coffee cart. As well as the beach walk, there are well maintained paths through the dunes up to the main south beach.
