Sand point is a hilly headland protruding into the Bristol Channel, forming the swath of sand and mud known as Sand Bay 2 miles North of Weston-super-Mare. It is managed by the National Trust, so a contribution for parking your car in the car park is appreciated, this can be found at the end of the Beach Road its a no through road and at the end just a single track. The car park is also a picnic area and occasionally there will be a ice cream van there.
To climb Sand Point there are two paths the first a moderate slope upwards going straight to the highest point, the second a steep set of steps (which maybe slippery) these lead to a small gate and an open field there are often farm animals here but the land is so vast it is often safe to let the dogs run free
My Pudge,Cilla and Ollie love the fresh sea air and open space, there are small tree copses as well and plenty of rabbits and fox scents to add to their excitement. The views are over Weston and the North Somerset levels to the Mendips one way, and to Wales and the Severn Bridges the other and on a clear day can be breath taking.
Watch out the cliffs although on 10-20 feet high are very steep and the risk of farm animals are quite common.

This is a really fantastic walk. The beaches are stoney and then a bit muddy. The views are amazing, it's a great place to blow away the cobwebs!
