Hilly walk up to the top of the trundle (a medieval fort) where you can see for miles around. It is all pathed, some in forest and some by fields and open grassland. Usually very windy when you approach the top! Popular with many dog walkers. Parking in the local roads and then walk over the bridge to begin the walk.

I tried this walk on a sunny morning in March, and the dogs and I really enjoyed it. We parked where suggested in Church Lane, West Dean, which is really pretty. Over the bridge and along a lovely river where the dogs could paddle before and after their walk - that went down well! The walk along a bridle way and ultimately to the top of The Trundle is a steady but gradual climb, and not too taxing. There is a woodland part which we enjoyed. The hike to the top of the hill itself was well worth it for the views. Added bonus was a Vintage Artisan coffee and tea van at the bottom of the Trundle - yay! It also sells pastries and toasties and we enjoyed a good hot coffee looking at the view.
