The Avenue is a great walk, it's lovely and sunny too. I can only describe it as looking like an air strip! In fact there is a memorial to a Canadian Fighter Pilot who crash landed here. (Pilot Officer Justin (Gerry) Clermont, RCAF: 11th November 1920 – 7th May 1944).
The walk is very flat and there is a wooded path that runs along side it too. Pushchair friendly (if you have an off road type) lots and lots of space for dogs and children to run around. There are a few hidden puddles!
I often park on Finchdean Road and walk from that end too, although there is no car park here, there is a pub called The Castle Inn, Rowlands Castle which has benches outside and water for dogs.
Directions: I cant find a road name where the car park is located, I think its Forest Side... From Comley Hill / B2148 Horndean Road take Emsworth Common Road, take the second left on to Forestside, car park is between North Coopers Wood and South Coopers Wood.

We are quite local to here and often take our dogs there as its a really good off lead place, totally agree about parking at the Rowlands Castle end as Castle Inn is a fantastic dog friendly pub! Oh, just one small thing, the memorial you mention is for a Canadian Pilot who died when his plane crashed there during WW2 -

Love this walk! Great off lead space, friendly fellow walkers and great local dog friendly pub. They have a "stick & flick" policy so no poo bins. -

Great for dog walking with water bowls around the house for dogs. Very dog friendly and the cafe is great to finish off the walk.
