About this walk

A great little walk along the side of the River Arle, a famous chalk stream that is renowned for its watercress beds. There's even a fab bench where you can make new friends! There are numerous paths one can take to extend the walk from my recommended start point. See website link for details of the routes available.

stunning walk! we walked along the river and ended up on a quiet road because I think I took a wrong turn but it was still a really enjoyable route! It was also quiet enough to be able to let my dog off the lead for a little bit

Location details

Park in the (free) car park for Alresford Rugby Club (signposted). Map pin shows exact location. Walk down the lefthand side of the rugby club building (the footpath is evident) to reach the recreation ground, then continue straight on down a gentle slope to reach the River Arle. Now turn right (but you can go left!). Alternatively park on the roadside in 'The Dean'.
