About this walk

A fairly gentle 3.8 mile walk with one hill. This takes us along the Test Way, across the river valley to a good paddling spot and then back through the village of King Somborne. There are two pubs on route and a further one with a small deviation. All dog friendly.

Nelly (dog) enjoys the first three quarters off the lead and loves the river paddle, collecting many stones from the river bed. The last part goes through people's gardens and requires some on lead care.

  • Location/Postcode takes you to houses that’s no where near where this is supposed to be. Once we found the pub on our sat nav and parked opposite we found the directions on ‘Nelly’s Walks’ page to be confusing and ended up somewhere completely random!

Regrettably, the last comment is right, the point on the map is located at Houghton instead of Horsebridge. Although this has access to the route, it is half way along, making the instructions very difficult to follow. The correct map position for the start is Link → From the car park, go to the left of the old station and pick up the Test Way path heading north towards Stockbridge.

Lovely walk Bonnie was happy running off lead. We found the pub and parked opposite but ended up walking to Stockbridge and back. As not paying attention and missed the turning for king Sombourne. Will definitely be going back. Lovely afternoon Thank you Mary Tricia

Great walk. Although watch out for the first turn off. Says private road so I kept walking and nearly ended up in stockbridge.
