About this walk

For those of you who want to park your car, walk to the beach with your children and let the dog off to run around this location is perfect. Beach is just yards away from carpark and theres miles of coastline to walk the dog. Beach is open all year round with access to all areas in the winter months and doggy areas from the spring. When the tide is in its shallow for miles so really safe for doggy swimming and the kids will love the sandy beach! If you want to socialise your dog then this is a great place especially at weekends, plenty of facilities close by and carpark is BBQ friendly in the summer!!

LOVELY beach walks! Just a word of warning at the moment, though: there have been recent incidents of dog poisoning by rat poisoned sandwiches at the Witterings. The police and locals are on the case and I'm sure it'll be safe again soon. Watch out for notices/warnings and take care until the danger's over. There are some mad people out there....

That's awful to hear. Cannot imagine what would possess someone to do that! Just to add a bit of extra detail to this walk, the parking can be quite expensive from what I remember. I think we parked outside the actual beach and walked down. Not as convenient, but a bit easier on the wallet!

Just to update. During the winter you can park your car for £1 per day on week days and £2 at week ends. The East Head Spit is part of the NT and is spectacular - with views over the harbour entrance and also South Downs to the north. All very nice and the provision of free 'poop' bags encourages even some of the 'challenged' who would otherwise leave their pet's calling cards..... "Just leave paw prints " :)
