Perfect length of walk. Our favourite walk near to Durham town centre. Part of the Woodland Trust with the river Wear to the east and the river Browney to the south. Open meadows perfect for ball throwing and there’s also wood with a carpet of bluebells in the spring and spots along the river for doggy paddles. Beautifully kept with some willow sculptures to spot along the way and stones with etchings to stop and sit down on with a flask of coffee. Lots of plants and animals. We’ve seen butterflies and bees as well as a deer and some horse riders. We’ve only ever seen one it two other walkers and it’s so peaceful with wonderful countryside views. Well signposted walks of varying lengths. Flat open fields and sometimes a bit hilly. Our typical walk along the river and through the meadows is about an hour. Free car park too ( my favourite price)! You won’t be disappointed.

Went for a walk around this park ( in feb ) was a nice walk with lots of random routes of different lengths. Some of the routes are hill but this depends on the route you take. Was very muddy and boggy at this time of year but I would imagine in summer it would be really nice. Was very quiet with just 2 other families walking around so lots of room for dogs to roam. Definitely going to visit again! -

Loved this walk, however I would recommend going on a day where it hasn’t rained for a few days. It does get quite muddy and would be lovely on a nicer day 🙂 -
