This is an easy Forest Walk. Gravelled Paths and trails into woodland with some open areas.
Ministry of Defence land so caution should be taken. Run by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust.
Found on the left had side of the Aldershot Road just passed the pub from Reading Road South or just before the pub accessing from A323, there is a small car park.
Our dog loved darting through the heather and ferns and into the woods. There were open areas for ball games too. We walked for about two hours but I am sure you could do less or more accordingly.
We stopped off at the Foresters Pub for a meal and refreshments following our walk and it was such a dog friendly atmosphere we will be going back as soon as we can. Plenty of bowls of water for your dog if required.

Velmead Common is a brilliant place to walk your dog. It’s flat with lots of woods as well as grassland filled with heather and gorse. Plenty of well worn paths as well as ‘off piste’ ones. You can easily spend 1 - 1.5 hours here walking the perimeter and zig zagging through the common. The Foresters Pub backs onto it and is dog friendly so you can pop in there too! Velmead has its own carpark which is quite small and gets busy at weekends. If you want to extend your walk, you can cross the road and cut through the wood (easy to see the path) over to Twesledown Racecourse which is another fantastic place for dogs 🐶💕
