About this walk

A varied and extensive area (141 acres) of local nature reserve. Some areas of pine forest, areas of open pasture type land and heath areas. Dogs love the variety and enjoy the different terrains. There are number of colour coded walks of various duration. There is a picnic area with wooden tables but no toilets anywhere on the reserve - pubs nearby! Many areas are pathed - land is owned by the MOD but safe for public to use. Military training occasionally takes place, but you can still walk there without danger! Some inclines and a lot of rough pathways. Can get close to the pond in certain areas only. Used daily by loads of dog owners and dog walkers. Cattle grazing in certain areas. Streams and culverts feed into Fleet Pond so can be muddy in wet weather. Frequented by bird watchers as many varieties available to see.

The area is lovely but the only downside is most of the water has become infected with blue-green algae meaning that dogs can't enter it

Great walk with a mix of path and open field space to walk around.

Fleet Pond is a fantastic place to walk your dog. It’s flat with lots of well worn paths as well as lots ‘off piste’. Plenty of woods to walk through as well as grassland with Heather and gorse. You can easily spend an 1 - 1.5hours walking the perimeter or longer if you zig zag about. Your dog will love it and so will you 🐶💕If you park at Hartland Country Park Car Park, you can also extend your walk and walk through Hartland before or after just by crossing the road!

Love it here great for the kids and the dog! It's more of a lead on walk and they're is a area where the dogs can go in the water lots of ducks etc and right next to the rail station
