About this walk

A popular dog walking spot in the Cannock area around an ancient site - you will meet lots of other dogs here, of all shapes and sizes! The ramparts of the Iron Age monument can be walked as a circuit, with other paths criss-crossing the central heathland area, and channeling walkers down into the ditches. Further routes lead into the surrounding forest, making for a lovely varied walk. There are some muddy patches and puddles that develop, especially if there's been some rain, though the main pathways are well maintained. There are no refreshments or toilets on site, but the Park Gate Inn across the road is dog friendly, and has a nice garden if the sun's out! The council ask for dogs to be on lead during bird nesting season (April - August).
