About this walk

A huge, wide open, green space surrounded by the Epsom Downs racecourse. It is relatively hilly but you can avoid the worst of it by walking around the edge. There is a wide path running around the edge near part of the track and the Grandstand, which then cuts across the middle towards the top car park. There is also woodland on the other side of the racecourse so lots of scope for exploring. You can make the walk as long or as short as you like due to the sheer size of it. There is free car parking at both ends.

They have a strict rule that dogs must be on leads before 12pm because there had been dogs jumping up at the racehorses, and owners should always be wary of any horses walking or galloping across it. We take our dog on a long lead in the morning because he doesn't like being approached by other dogs, and he finds it very enjoyable and relaxing. It is more popular with dog walkers when you're allowed off lead and can be a great place for socialisation.

It is occasionally used for horse racing and other events so worth avoiding then.

Free parking, no toilets near by but a lovely walk. Can be windy & dogs need to be kept on lead in the mornings.
