About this walk

This 6.9 mile walk started and finished at Winchelsea Beach in East Sussex (grid reference TQ 911155) taking in Rye Harbour and the nature reserve. It can easily be shortened to suit your needs and is almost totally flat. It includes the baron shingle spit, entrance to Rye Harbour, WW2 Gun shelter, tragic lifeboat story, a Martello Tower and the nature reserve. It can be adapted to make it wheelchair accessible.

    Walked my previous dog here many times. There is a large open grassy area that leads to the beach, also a lovely walk along the flat concrete path towards Rye nature reserve. Suitable for mobility scooters.

    loved this walk with my dog and a labrador i was looking after. they splashed in the sea!
