While each person's needs are unique, it may be worthwhile for aspiring dog owners who live alone to hunt for a dog with a certain set of qualities as you can read at PetCareRx. Breeds that can be left alone for a short period of time, create a particularly close and protective attachment with one person, and don't require continual stimulation make excellent pets for those who live alone.
