This walk can has two different aspects to it. You can either stick to the new path and do a circular walk from the top car park along the waters edge, up through the woods and back to the car park which only takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on whether your dog want to play in the water!! Or you can go all the way around the dam, which takes about an hour or so.
Leave the top car park heading towards the motorway. Turn left following the path down the hill, don't go all the way down though, go straight ahead and find the wooden fence which runs parallel with the motorway.
Go all the way to the end keeping the water on your left. When you get to the end turn left and keep to the path. Which now becomes quite muddy in places in winter. It goes through the trees and basically follows the waterline. When you come out of the trees the path goes across the fields and you come to a kissing gate. Go through the gate and following the path again go down the hill and steps, across the bridge and turn left. The path goes both ways but turning right only takes you to the car park at the bottom.
Go through some more gates and follow the new path back around the water. When you get to a tarmaced road turn right up the road and then turn left towards a canoe club. Look out for the path turning right up the hill before you get to the club house. Follow the path up and when it branches go left though another gate. Then follow the path all the way along the waters edge.
You can either go all the way along and back up the hill you came down or you can branch right before the path goes down the hill, both paths take you back to the car park at the top.
The car park opens at 9 am and closes at 6pm. It's free.

You can also park at the lower car park which is accessed by continuing to drive along the narrow road. -
