About this walk

This route can be wet and is best enjoyed between May and October.

Car parking is behind St Mary's Church in Kidlington.

St Mary's Church is the starting point of this walk, which passes the ruins of the manor house at Hampton Gay, with view across the floodplain towards Kidlington, The walk visits the tiny hamlet of Thrupp and travels passed narrowboats along the Oxford canal towards Annie's Tea Room

There are a number of stiles along the way

Annie's Tea Room is right on the walk at Thrupp. There are two pubs on the route - the Boat at Thrupp and the Jolly Boatman on the Oxford Road, just south of Thrupp. There is also a wide range of facilities in Kidlington.

This is a fantastic dog walking area. It can be accessed from St Mary's Church, as stated here, or Hampton Poyle, or Thrupp. There are meadows, woods, intersecting paths, and the river.

You won't meet a more grumpy farmer than on this walk. Large number of stiles on his farm have "chicken wire" across them making it impossible for dogs to pass through. Clearly doing his best to prevent dog walkers using public footpaths.
