The River Foss in York is a really lovely place for dog walking. You can walk all the way from the city centre up into Haxby along either side of the river. There are bridges at multiple points along the river so it makes it easy to do long or short walks. There are other footpaths that lead away from the river around the Huntington area too. Sometimes Cattle or sheep are put to graze in the fields surrounding the river near Joseph Rowntree school so just be careful! You really feel in the countryside walking here as you're surrounded by nature that the river attracts to it. In the summer, the hedgerows are full of wild roses and honeysuckle and in the autumn they are full of blackberries, sloe berries and others. Parking is available in residential streets or at All Saints Church, Huntington.
