Amazing hills and valleys make this place a worth while visit. Park for free on Church Lane and walk up the lane. There are several pathways to choose from. You can see the massive peak from here and I took this path along the field to the reserve. Its high up with steep paths and steps. You will need to be reasonably fit. But the views over the valley are worth it. It's like a mini peak district. There is a wood and stream at the bottom with flatter paths. I enjoyed the slim paths running around the hills. Wild ponies roam. If you enjoy a challenge, try it.
Nature Reserve
This walk has been marked as a nature reserve. Dogs are usually welcome however restrictions may apply.
Each nature reserve has its own rules regarding dog walking, and some may not allow dogs. Kindly keep an eye out for the relevant signs within the reserve or visit the reserve's website before your visit for more information.
In most nature reserves, it's kindly requested to keep dogs on a lead at all times. Allowing dogs to roam off-lead can create issues or cause distress to livestock and wildlife.
If you see other visitors, please put your dog on lead whilst you are walking near them. Nature reserves are for the benefit of wildlife and frequently host educational visits.
Some nature reserves have dog poo bins, but if you can’t find one please take the waste home with you.

Lovely surroundings, and nice length walk. A few picnics near stream, but could still go for a paddle off lead. Didn’t see any cattle or ponies, so managed more off lead than on! -

Our favourite dog walking area, by FAR!!! Very hilly, lots of pheasants which our cocker loved to chase (didn’t catch any, don’t worry!) beautiful views for miles. We my not have found the main parking area but where we do park is only big enough for 6-8 cars? -

A firm favourite! Can be super muddy in autumn and winter but fun all year round. Look out for the wild horses on the himms -
