About this walk

A huge expanse of fields and protected nature reserves. There is a small car park which would fit around 6-8 cars at the start of the playing field then many turnstiles on to various difference tracks. Some ponds, chalk pits and river areas. A great all rounder!

Lovely walk across meadows (look out for the longhorn cows) and next to fields (watch out for the oil seed rape, which can harm dogs) and alongside a river where we often see kingfishers

Pleasant area, few different routes to take. Many other dog walkers on route. Downside is we could not find one dog mess bin on the whole walk so had so spend an hour carrying that around! And they wonder why people don’t bother picking it up.
  • Loved it. Good mix of fields, woods and river.

Beautiful walk, the river has crystal clear water and perfect entry points for a little pup.

Depending on where you park you will find Oughton Common a great place to explore. My dog Aldo loves playing in the water which is situated all over. Kids will also love it to. A great dog walk and mostly on the flat. It can get busy here at weekends and school holidays.

This is my dog's favourite walk (even more than Rowney Warren Wood!). There is parking near the various ways onto the common, but it is limited. The stream running through it and the marshlands (with Longhorn Cattle) make it a beautiful area to explore. It's quite heavily wooded, so you can see lots of birds in the trees. The main paths are very easy to navigate with pushchair/wheelchairs and it is pretty level throughout , so easy going..
