Coalhouse Fort Park, is situated in East Tilbury. The fort was built in the 1800’s and had served as a coastal defence until 1962 when it was bought by Thurrock council.
There is a nice bit of park area surrounding the fort, with some pathed routes, that seem quite popular with dog walkers. There are a few areas with deep water, so care will need to be taken if your dog is a keen swimmer!
There is ample parking, and a children’s play area, in addition to the fort itself. There is also an iPhone app you can download, which allows you to follow a marked route around the fort and learn about its history.
The car park opens at 8am and closes half an hour before dusk. There is plenty of poo bins and picnic tables.
