This is a beautiful and safe walk for dogs, on or off the lead. It is a forest walk with miles of different trails, lakes and places to explore. A lot of money has been spent recently on improving the whole site, including a dog friendly cafe (the staff always have dog treats on hand if you allow them). It is very safe and the dogs can run through the water, jump in the lake. There are main, large trails, and there are some excellent trails through the woods and by the riverside. Maps are available from the cafe/visitor centre. Parking is reasonably priced, but there is also free parking a little further down the A48 by Lezzets Roadside Cafe. Highly recommended for all dogs, especially the more active!

Penllergare Valley Woods is managed by The Penllergare Trust. We’re a charity with very strong community roots, celebrating the history of the valley and working hard to conserve and protect its wildlife and habitats. We welcome responsible dog owners but, in the interests of wildlife conservation, we ask visitors to stay on the paths and not allow your dogs into the river, lakes or ponds. Also to reduce disturbance, please keep your dog on a lead during bird nesting season (March to August inclusive). Thank you and enjoy your visit! -
