About this walk

A lovely woodland filled with Bluebells in the spring And a dog friendly double decker bus/cafe which sells amazing breakfast butties, coffees, hot chocolate and doggy flapjack on weekends.
The decent sized carpark is £1 for the day or you can buy a season pass for the year off the council for a very reasonable price.
There are a couple of different routes, the longest taking about an hour if you don’t stop. If you dog has good recall they can do the entire walk off lead as once you are in the Wood they are pretty fenced in by dry stone walls.
It’s mostly populated by joggers, dog walkers and squirrels and has a stream half way round for you dog to have splash splash and a slurp.
Lots of poo bins too if you stick to the routes!
My springer loves it!

Beautiful woodland, bluebells everywhere. Lots of paths of the beaten track to get lost on. Superbly maintained.

My Springer spaniels loved it! They were able to be off lead the whole way round even when we were on the side with the road it was safe.

Fantastic walk, wonderful views and lovely birdsong. Gets busy, even in the mid week afternoon. Most dog walkers considerate. Can get muddy on some routes so needs wellies or mud friendly shoes. Nice benches and seats on routes, not any dog poo bins around walk so you need to carry it with you. Some streams for doggies to splash in and lots of changes in gradient to make this a good workout walk. There are badgers and lots of squirrels so if your dog is prey oriented keep them on a lead. Amazing coffee and cake/savouries stop off after as a reward. Olivias is always great for quality and offers doggie treats too. Outdoor and indoor seating all dog friendly. Parking fills up quick and there us a cost. Some on street parking but not near the entrance and although this is free you will be lucky to get a space on the weekend. Always delivers a good walk.
