About this walk

Lenzie Moss is a local nature reserve, bordering the main Glasgow to Edinburgh railway line in the small town of Lenzie in East Dunbartonshire (just off the m80). The nature trail offers a circuit walk, very flat with gravel paths and some open areas. There is also a marsh with a wooden walkway.

Park at Lenzie station. You want the car park next to Lenzie cabs on The platform 2 side of the station opposite the ticket office. Park as close as you can to the far edge of the car park. You will see a forest path leading off the car park, which is the start of the trail. A short way up the path splits. It makes no difference which fork you take, as the route is circular.

The forest walk us popular with people of all ages and abilities. It offers decent quality grave, paths and a pleasant countryside feel without having to go miles out of town. The circuit is about 3km, and an easy walk (i've done it with 4 mutts and 2 toddlers in tow without disaster). Alongside the reserve are the local rugby club pitches, which can be used for extended ball chucking and frisbee throwing if there's no game on. The walk is particularly nice in the snow.

The locals are very friendly, and hold a big walk for reserve users and their pooches every boxing day. Visitors are always made welcome.

Walk description is spot on, good short loop with opportunities to wander off the path. You are not likely to have it to yourself as it's a popular route.
