A there and back walk along part of the Solent way. Park is readily available and so setting off from the Montagu Arms Hotel you pass through Beaulieu and then head along a well signposted routed to Bucklers Hard. After a short while you'll have a further choice of 2 signposted routes to Bucklers Hard; a riverside path or a woodland path. Try going out by the riverside path and back by the woodland path... Be warned though the riverside walk whilst having a large % on slightly raised wooden decking does still get muddy so wellies or good walking boots are advisable for humans, also as it close to the river edge access to mud and water is freely available to dogs so towels etc ready in the car for the dogs are recommended. The woodland trail is a lot straighter and almost exclusively gravel track. Both prpvide access to nature and we have oftenn seen deer as well as various waterlife.
The total walk of about 4.5miles (7km) there and back - slightly longer if you follow the river path. One you get to Bucklers Hard there is a small marina, a decent pub, coffee shop and small maritime museum. You can easily spend at least an hr there, get some refreshments and before heading back.
A pleasant easy walk that is well worth taking on with good facilities at both ends.
