Take a lovely walk around Hatchet Pond and sample some of the best and diverse wildlife the New Forest offers. You can walk ALL the way round the pond in about 2 hours but make sure you have wellies on as there is a couple of points to cross that are wet all year round. Pathways leading away from the pond are seemingly endless, with other car parks in easy reach. Refreshments are available most of the year from a mobile ice cream van selling some of the nicest ice cream we've eaten!

I do this walk quite regularly and love it. The only thing I would say is that crossing the far end of the pond and hence doing a complete circuit can quite often be difficult as it gets very muddy. I nearly got completely stuck a few weeks ago so just be careful. -

Really pretty! Will get very boggy in autumn/winter after significant rain I imagine. -

One of my favourite places to walk, I second the ice-cream van :) gorgeous new forest ice cream :)
