Council owned Historic Hall, park & gardens. Very popular with dog walkers and families. Large open fields (football on Sundays during footie season), and woodland walks for off-lead, on-lead in the Hall gardens (there is also a small lake with wildfowl). 3 pay & display car parks (£1.50 all day or hourly by the Hall) 2 with disabled parking and 1 with accessible toilets (lower car park next to the children's playground) Large Café with outside seating & a small over-counter kiosk with picnic benches by the small river/stream next to the children's playground. Lots of doggie swimming places, shallow and safe.
There is a garden centre at the far end but they do not allow dogs. There is a very lovely woodland walk and long grass field walks the other side of the park to the Hall which is almost exclusively used by dog walkers and is often very quiet. Park at the bottom car park near the play area then walk across the road away from the hall towards what used to be the 9 hole golf course (now closed). The woodland walk starts opposite the pond and leads up to the expansive long grass fields (access road runs thro so be careful of occasional cars).
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Be very careful to control your dog at the far end of the park near the horse fields (Hall side of park). The farmer there has a history of extreme intolerance to all off lead dogs and has been known to shoot them. All his fields are securely fenced off but there are gated footpaths that walkers use and an open entrance to the farmyard off the road at the far end of the woodland so BEWARE.
I've lived in the area for 30 years and I never tire of walking here.

I walk around this park regularly and it is a great area to walk dogs. Just be alert for the horse riders and deer.
