About this walk
Great place to take your dog to socialise any morning, in good weather the weekends will make this place full of families, small children and some paths, prams, so good place to go on a nice weekend afternoon with the family and the doggo.
This time of year (June) they are nesting birds so it’s best to keep on a lead but during the winter months and spring dogs are allowed off lead and will love the slight incline woody walks leading to riverside walks. There’s a car park in the Castle Bailey, before 2pm 7 days a week it’s £4.50 and after 2pm it’s £2.50. There’s always a guy in the booth so make sure you bring change.
You can lap the woods 1.5 times and it’ll take 1 hour 45 mins approx depending on your speed. If you’re lucky grab a car space in town along the high street where it’s free for 2 hours and walk straight to the woods (takes 5 mins).
If your dog is like mine and loves a swim this place is perfect 👌 also really interesting paths, bridges and a lovely waterfall. Interesting historic points and paths directly into town and the castle.
